新金屬(Nu-metal)是一個20世紀末開始的一個音樂流派，前衛音樂和工業音樂可以算是Nu metal的起源。基本上新金屬的定義相當廣泛，只要你在搖滾/金屬的樂曲上增添過去沒有的新元素，在1999~200X年代的樂團都可能被稱為新金屬樂團。在新金屬這個genre中享有最大聲譽的應該就是聯合公園LINKIN PARK了。他們將饒舌與搖滾結合，並加上DJ盤和程式音效，把搖滾歌曲在21世紀推向了新的紀元。他們在2000年的首專"混合理論"被稱為是最適合描述"Nu-metal"這個音樂風格的專輯。

相較於其它歐美樂團，台灣不乏聯合公園的歌迷，主要是因為臺灣的華納有代理並且推出中文版的專輯，甚至翻了一些歌。網路上也已經很多他們知名歌曲的翻譯了，老實講我現在進場翻譯的時機真是太晚了。就像我國中時第一次聽混合理論，覺得他很吵鬧，高二的時候才發現當年有人能做出這樣的突破真屌，於是再回去聽，實迷途其未遠，覺今是而昨非啊。
